FIRE SAFETY AND RESTRICTION REMINDERS
BOULDER TOWN FIRE RESTRICTIONS
A town-wide fire ban is in effect until October 31, 2026. The restrictions apply to fireworks, open fires, and outdoor smoking.
Per Boulder Town Code §130.01 and Resolution No. 2026-16, Effective 2026-04-15.
Prohibited Activities:
- Fireworks: No discharge or use of fireworks, pyrotechnic devices, or tracer ammunition.
- Open Fires: Prohibited unless in a permanent, improved fire pit (stone or metal-lined), or pre-approved by the Town Council and supervised by the Fire Department.
- Outdoor Smoking: Prohibited unless on a surface cleared of all vegetation and flammable material.
GARFIELD COUNTY & REGIONAL RESTRICTIONS
Stage 1 Fire Restrictions currently apply to all unincorporated private, state, and federal lands in Garfield County.
Per Orders for State and Private Unincorporated – Garfield Co, Effective 2026-06-05, Forest Service (USFS) – Dixie NF, Effective 2026-06-05, and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) – Color Country District (East), Effective 2026-06-12
Stage 1 Prohibited Activities:
- No open fires of any kind except within established public facilities in improved campgrounds or picnic areas. -OR- In permanently constructed fire pits at private homes where running water is present.
- No smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle, trailer, or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area that is paved or free from dry vegetation.
- No discharging or using any fireworks, tracer ammunition, or other pyrotechnic devices, including exploding targets.
- No cutting, welding, or grinding metal in areas of dry vegetation.
- No operating a motorcycle, chainsaw, ATV, or other small internal combustion engine without an approved and working spark arrestor.
Stage 2 Prohibited Activities
- Includes all Stage 1 restrictions, plus NO OPEN FIRES OF ANY KIND (compressed or liquid gas grills, stoves, firepits with shutoff valves are allowed with proper clearance of flammable materials).
