Planning Commission Opportunity!

Boulder Town Planning Commission has two vacancies to fill: one regular, 5-year term and one 5-year alternate member term. (The alternate attends all meetings and is ready to fill in any Commissioner absence as a full voting member.)

This is a great opportunity for Boulder residents* to learn about their town, get training in land use decision-making, and make a positive impact on Boulder’s future.

Job Description for Planning Commissioners:

  • Attend the regular monthly meetings and participate in additional work meetings or training sessions as required.
  • Work with other Planning Commissioners to arrive at fact-based, reasoned, and researched decisions on:
    • Conditional Use Permit applications.
    • Subdivision application recommendations to Town Council.
    • Land use-related Ordinance, Zoning, or General Plan amendments

All commissioners need to send/receive email and file attachments and use the internet. They also need connection capability to Zoom and to locate information within Boulder’s codified ordinances. Occasional travel to training or conferences is offered, but optional.

A full Planning Commission term is for 5 years. Both of these positions will start Jan 1, 2024 and expire at the end of 2028.

To apply, submit your name in writing and the vacancy you wish to fill to Town Clerk Jessica LeFevre,, no later than Monday, December 27. Please plan to attend the next Town Council meeting Thursday, January 4 to present your application to the Council. The appointees will be expected to attend the January 11 PC meeting.

Curious? Contact PC Clerk Peg Smith, or 335-7481.

Applicants are appointed by the mayor, with the advice and consent of town council.

*Preference is generally given to applicants who reside in Boulder Town.
